When I visited Svalbard in November 2016, I had never heard of this place and had no idea what to expect. Yet the unreal atmosphere of this Norwegian archipelago struck me right away : I had caught the Arctic bug ! I learned about the mining history of the town, that there were more polar bears than humans in Svalbard and had the chance to visit mine number 7, the Longyearbyen coal mine which is still active today.
